ANDERSON COUNTY, SC – On Friday, August 8th, the Cancer Association of Anderson (CAA) will host the 7th Annual Hartwell Lake Ladies Jet Ski Ride! According to Cancer Association of Anderson’ Executive Director, “This signature event was started by a group of caring women who love Lake Hartwell and love the Cancer Association of Anderson. Since its humble beginnings, the event has grown to be a major fundraiser for CAA! We are so grateful for Laura Thompson, Tonya Childs and their wonderful group of friends who took action and are making a very big impact in the lives of Anderson County cancer patients!”
The idea for the jet ski crawl began several years ago while Laura Thompson and a couple friends were having dinner at the Galley Restaurant on Lake Hartwell. “My husband and his guy friends do an annual jet ski ride each year in remembrance of his father that passed away from cancer 13 years ago,” Thompson said. “A couple of my friends and I decided we could do this too and have a ladies jet ski ride.” Because the event grew each year, Thompson said she decided to turn it into a fundraiser so participants could ride for a purpose. “So many of us have had family or friends that have been touch by cancer,” she said. Thompson’s mother being a breast cancer survivor, she decided to raise money for The Cancer Association of Anderson.
2025 will be our 7th annual Hartwell Lake Ladies Jet Ski Crawl. With over 69 corporate sponsors and so many dedicated riders, we have raised over $60,000 thus far this year. First Bank, where Laura Thompson is the Area Executive, is the Presenting Sponsor. “First Bank has supported me in my fundraising efforts from the beginning” Thompson said.
“Smart Marketing owner, Tonya Childs is the other presenting sponsor, providing all marketing for free along with the rider bags”.
ACTIVITIES: Ladies will gather at Party Island by 12 pm to kick off the day’s activities! Once riders are welcomed, guidelines explained, and announcements made, ladies will “parade” toward The Grill at Clemson Marina for live music and a tasty lunch provided by First Bank. Fox Carolina will be onsite to cover the fun! Clemson Marina will donate 10% of their proceeds to CAA.
After a sun-filled day on beautiful Lake Hartwell, grab your spouse, family, and friends and meet us at 6 pm at El Arriero at The Shores for dinner and live music. El Arriero will provide the DJ and donate 10% of their proceeds to CAA.
Riders and guests will also have the chance to purchase a 50/50 raffle ticket! Tickets will be available at lunch, through the afternoon, and again at dinner. The lucky winner will be announced at El Arriero at The Shores—don’t miss your chance to win while supporting a great cause!
