If you are looking for a fun family adventure that is local to you, look no further than Sadlers Creek State Park. This is a local park with many hidden gems, offering day-use and overnight recreational opportunities. The park is 395 acres on a peninsula on Lake Hartwell. It is a short distance from Anderson, SC, and Hartwell, GA. The park has a variety of activities to fill a week’s worth of camping adventures or just a fun afternoon.
The park has 6.5 miles of multi-use trails. The trails are at a beginner to intermediate level and have great views of the lake. The trails go through hardwood, pine, and grassland habitats. There are a variety of animals that you can see while exploring the park. These include white-tailed deer, fox squirrels, gray squirrels, red-tailed hawks, Cooper’s hawks, bald eagles, loons, and more!
For those that like to fish from a boat or on shore, this is the place to come. The park’s extensive roads and trails give shoreline anglers tons of places to fish for catfish, bream, largemouth bass, and striped bass. The park has several great places to launch kayaks. The boat ramp features two different ramps. One ramp is a double-wide ramp that is easy to back into the lake. The single ramp has borders and is usable even when the lake is extremely low. Over the past seven years, we have added 2,680 fish attractors to the coves and points around the park. This has helped to improve the fishing in this area!
The park features a nine-hole disc golf course, with plans to expand to a full 18 holes in the near future. The picnic area has a playground, a horseshoe pit, and a beach volleyball court. The two picnic shelters and pavilion are great places to have birthday parties, family reunions, and company picnics.
We have three camping loops featuring fifty-one RV sites and fourteen tent sites. These sites are great for groups of up to six people. With million-dollar views of fabulous sunsets, camping is a great getaway. Come check out our sites and pick one out for your next getaway.
The Lake Hartwell Partners for Clean Water works with many different organizations on Lake Hartwell, including the South Carolina State Park Service. The Lake Hartwell Partners for Clean Water has two lake cleanups each year in the spring and the fall. These cleanups feature sites all over Lake Hartwell on the South Carolina and Georgia sides of the lake. These cleanups have collected over 11 thousand pounds of trash. The next cleanup is April 25.
