Christmas Tree Recycling

HARTWELL, Ga. – Park rangers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers submerge used, natural Christmas trees into Hartwell Lake for use as fish attractors, Jan. 27, 2014 (pictured: Asher Alexander). The trees were donated by surrounding communities as part of the Corps’ annual Christmas tree recycling program. The submerged trees provide cover and a feeding area for small fish, which in turn attracts larger species to the area. USACE photos.
